Walking Meditation post-Chiefs wind-down
Have you ever wanted to try walking meditation?
Stop by Grace at 3:00pm after the Chiefs game for a small group lesson in walking meditation, with the Contemplative Community group. Walking meditation can be especially good for calming and centering yourself at times when it’s difficult to sit still and concentrate (like right after a Chiefs game!)

Practice: Walking Meditation
Our practice for Contemplative Community this month will be Walking Meditation led by Robin Olson. Please wear comfortable shoes and clothing for walking. Here are some words that Robin writes about this practice:
Walking meditation is another way to find your quiet center and connection to God. It is a practice that allows us to focus on our connection with the earth, the movements of our body, and the sensations around us. It gives us permission to slow down, center our thoughts, and move mindfully along our path. It can be done anytime, anywhere we find ourselves. All we need are a path, our feet, and our breath.
All are welcome.
About Contemplative Community
This is a small group made up of lay persons, pastors, former pastors, and others from various churches in the Olathe area who all share a common interest in exploring the more quiet, contemplative modes of communicating with God. The activity or learning/practice session changes each month, covering such activities as centering prayer, welcoming prayer, walking the labyrinth, or chair yoga. Everyone is welcome – no experience necessary.
This group now meets monthly at Grace UMC Olathe for about 60-90 minutes, hosted by Pastor Sylvia, led by various pastors or lay persons.
To subscribe to the email notifications for the date and subject of the next monthly gathering, please email Pastor Sherry McGlaughlin – First Christian Church, Olathe () and ask to be added to the Contemplative Community list.
