This Weekend in 4/6 Worship

Dear Grace Family,

I know that the headline on my email is “This Week in Worship,” but I want to tell you about three opportunities coming up that are not part of worship. By the way, the title I choose for my weekly email comes from one of my favorite TV shows from the 70’s and 80’s called “This Week in Baseball” (TWiB) hosted by Mel Allen. Before ESPN, TWiB was the best place to hear all of your baseball news each week. It was one of the highlights of my week. Okay, enough with the nostalgia. Here are my three opportunities.

Last year Grace became a host church for a new Korean United Methodist Church called Bonfire. They have been meeting each Sunday afternoon in Grace Gathering and they are funded by our Conference New Church Development. You may have met Pastor Changhyun Kim when he participated in worship leadership on Ash Wednesday or Christmas Eve. Pastor Chang has worked as a Korean Chef in his past and one of their primary church growth activities is called The Table. They have been serving dinner to about a dozen people in their home. The church has now taken the next step by offering these meals every other Wednesday night at Grace. The pop-up restaurant is in our coffee shop from 5:30-8:00. They accept donations either by cash or Venmo. If you are interested in eating at “The Table,” they ask that you make a reservation. You can find more information and make a reservation at this link.

The second opportunity is this Sunday afternoon at the Solutions Briefing held by the Good Faith Network. The Good Faith Network is a justice advocacy organization in Johnson County. Each year, GFN focuses on three or four justice issues that need to be addressed in our community. In 2025 they have been working on mental health crisis care, ending homelessness, affordable housing, and elder care (helping people age in place). The solutions briefing is exactly what the name implies. Different presenters will share solutions to each of these issues and what we are asking our leaders in Johnson County to do. Anyone can attend the solutions briefing at 3:00 PM in the Celebration Center at Grace.

The final opportunity is to get yourself some Grace UMC swag. We have put together a little online store with all kinds of shirts and hats that have our name and logo on them. One of the best forms of evangelism is to wear a Grace shirt. if you would like some Grace UMC swag, you can visit the store here, but you need to hurry as the store will receive orders until April 7.

This Sunday we will continue our worship series on the Lord’s Prayer at all three services. We will dig into the phrase, “Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” Don’t give in to that temptation to sleep in on Sunday morning. There is no better place to be than with your church family.

See you in worship!

Barry

Each Tuesday Pastor Mitch publishes a devotion on his website Weeklydevotion.com.  If you’d like to receive this in your inbox, drop him an email at   and just say “Sign me up!”
