This Week in Worship – 11/3
Dear Grace Family,
Today is All Saints Day also known as All Hallows Day, the Feast of All Saints, the Feast of All Hallows, the Solemnity of All Saints and my favorite Hallowmas. It is the day after Halloween and is set aside to remember and celebrate the saints of the church. In the United Methodist Church, we designate the first Sunday after Halloween as All Saints Sunday to lift up and remember the members of our church who have died in the past year. We will read 25 names in worship this Sunday.
Last Sunday we concluded our stewardship series with commitment Sunday. We are off to a great start for 2025. As of today, we have received 176 pledges for $764,000. Of those 176 commitments, 60 families increased their pledge over 2024 and 10 were new pledges to the church. Our goal is 250 commitments for 2025, so it is not too late to turn yours in. The easiest way to fill out your “Intent to Give Card” is online here. Your information will go directly to Annessa Downes, our Financial Coordinator. You can also mail your card to the church or call Annessa directly at 913-859-0111. She will be happy to fill out your information for you.
There are two more celebrations I want to share with you today. Our children collected $1450 in change during our noisy offering on Sunday. With the “non-noisy” paper money that was thrown in the buckets, we received over $1500 that will be given to the Holiday Hero Program for KVC Kansas. It was the largest noisy offering that anyone on staff can remember! The second celebration is our Trunk or Treat event at the Center of Grace. The weather chose not to cooperate, and we moved the event inside. Ironically, it was even better inside, and our plan is to change the name from “Trunk or Treat” to “Table or Treat” next year. We are guessing that over 150 children enjoyed a safe and fun Halloween event at the Center of Grace. Thank you to everyone who participated or donated candy!
Happy Hallowmas and see you in worship!
Barry
