This Week in Nov 10 Worship

Dear Grace Family,

This morning, I attended the Olathe Community Prayer Breakfast. It was a good morning to connect with community leaders and people of faith to pray and raise money for organizations in Olathe that make a difference including the Center of Grace. During the invocation, the pastor shared that we may not all agree on many things, but that our unity is our common purpose to pray for our community and the things we can do together that improve the lives of people living in Olathe (that is not exactly how he said it but is my attempt at a paraphrase).

As I sat at the prayer breakfast, I could not help but think about our next sermon series on prayer. Ann Lamont wrote a book a few years ago called “Help, Thanks, Wow!” Her premise is that all of our prayers fall into one of these three categories. For the next three weeks, we are going to explore what these prayers look like and how we can live them out. I invite you to come with an open spirit as we learn together.

A quick update on our stewardship campaign. This week we received 25 more commitments for a total of 201. The total amount pledged is $828,806. Thank you to everyone who has made a commitment for 2025. You can still fill out you “Intent to Give” card online by clicking this link. Your information will go directly to Annessa Downes, our Financial Coordinator. You can also mail your card to the church or call Annessa directly at 913-859-0111. She will be happy to fill out your information for you.

As we head into the Advent and Christmas season, I am filled with gratitude that I get to serve as your pastor. It is a blessing in my life to be at Grace UMC.

See you in worship!

Barry
