This Week in June 16 Worship

Dear Grace Family,

Last Sunday I experienced a Holy moment as Wesley Gately-Price was ordained as an elder in the United Methodist Church. Typically, the service begins with a processional of clergy. It includes those who are participating in the service, those who are being ordained and members of the Board of Ordained Ministry. This year a tradition was changed, and all ordained clergy processed for worship. It was a powerful sight as we had to sing the hymn “O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing” all the way through three times before the procession was finished. For some reason, I was particularly moved as I realized that this diverse set of individuals had one thing in common. We have all answered a call to ministry in the United Methodist Church and God is not done calling new people to this sacred profession. As I stood during Wesley’s ordination, I felt a sense of pride and connection as he was ordained to serve the church.

This Sunday we will celebrate Wesley’s ordination at Grace. A reception will be held at the coffee shop between 10:00 and 11:00 am. Come and enjoy a piece of cake as we congratulate Wesley on his journey.

See you in worship!
Barry
