This Week in 9/8 Worship
Dear Grace Family,
I was up too late last night watching the end of the Chiefs-Ravens game. I would like to say it was worth the wait, but I just felt relieved at the end rather than joyful. If the Ravens player wore one shoe size smaller, the outcome could have been different. I am just pleased that the Chiefs are supporting our “Homecoming Sunday” by winning their game this week. Now we just need the Royals to sweep the Twins to complete the weekend.
I have the same feeling about Homecoming this week that I do about watching the Chiefs or Royals. I am filled with excitement for all the things we have planned on Sunday and at the same time feeling a little bit anxious. There are so many moving parts to worry about. Will the weather cooperate? Did we order enough food? Did we pack too much into the worship service? Will anyone show up? Will anyone stay late to help clean up? This is when I have to take my own advice and give my worries to God. Whatever happens this Sunday, God is still good, and we are blessed to be part of Grace UMC.
Here are the details for Sunday in case you need a reminder. We have one worship service for the entire church in the Celebration Center at 10:30 AM. It will be filled with great music, a special time for children and a sermon by Dan Meers who is the KC Wolf. After the service we are having a cookout with hamburgers, hotdogs and a vegetarian option. There are activities for children, music by the Basement Boyz, an ice cream truck and plenty of fellowship with your church family. All you need is a lawn chair (we will have extra chairs if you forget). We will have some tents and tables set up if you want a shady spot to sit. The KC Wolf will also be signing autographs and have some of his books for sale. It will be a great morning for people of all ages.
Get rested up after the late game last night and don’t forget to wear something to support your favorite team on Sunday!
See you in worship!
Barry
