This Week in 9/15 Worship
Dear Grace Family,
We had so much fun last Sunday. The weather was perfect for an outdoor event. The music from all of our choirs and smaller groups was outstanding. The Burger Boys cooked up some great food and the Basement Boyz kept us rocking through the meal. The children had a great time going through the obstacle courses and the KC Wolf did not disappoint. Best of all, there was a spirit of joy running through the Grace community. Thank you to everyone that participated in some way last Sunday.
My vision for Grace is that we experience that same spirit of joy every Sunday when we gather for worship. It may not include hamburgers on the grill, but our joy comes from being together in community. I look forward to seeing you each week in worship. This Sunday we start a new sermon series in traditional worship about Jonah. It is a whale of a story (even though it is actually a big fish, not a whale). We also start our new worship schedule. The 11:00 traditional worship now begins at 10:30 and will include the choir (they will sing both services).
Jonah is one of my favorite books in the Bible. It is unlike any other book in our scriptures. It is listed as one of the twelve minor prophets, but it does not read like any of the other biblical prophets. It reads more like a children’s story. In fact, it was made into a full length cartoon by Veggietales back in 2002. It may read like a children’s story, but the wisdom it shares is for people of all ages. Over the next three weeks, we will go swimming in the deep end with Jonah as we listen for God’s message in our lives.
See you in worship!
Barry
