This Week in 6/9 Worship
Dear Grace Family,
Do you know how you can identify true United Methodist nerds? They look forward to attending Annual Conference. I have to admit that I am one of those nerds. Thursday afternoon was the beginning of the Great Plains Annual Conference in Kearney, Nebraska. You heard me right; we have gathered in Kearney to do the business of the church. Over 1000 United Methodist lay people and clergy will vote on resolutions, adopt budgets, hear reports, and worship together. It is always a rip-roaring-good-time!
The most significant event of the conference for Grace will be the ordination service on Sunday morning when Wesley Gately-Price will be ordained as an elder in the United Methodist Church. The process of becoming an elder takes years of schooling, interviews by multiple boards and finally approval by the Annual Conference. If you would like to watch the ordination service live, you can stream it at this link. It is scheduled to begin at 9:30 am on Sunday.
We will celebrate Wesley’s ordination on Sunday, July 16 between 10:00 and 11:00 am at the Grace coffee shop. Come enjoy a piece of cake and congratulate Wes on his journey to ordination. Wes will also preach that Sunday in traditional worship.
This Sunday, Pastor Mitch will continue our series on the “Gospel According to Dr. Seuss” by preaching on Yertle the Turtle. The 9:00 am traditional worship will also include a time to commission our youth summer mission trips. Join us in person or online to hear the lesson found in Yertle the Turtle.
See you in worship!
Barry
