This Sunday in Nov 24 Worship
Dear Grace Family,
On November 1st, my next-door neighbor had his Christmas lights up on his house. Actually, they may have been up even sooner, but that was the first night he turned them on. That morning, I got into my car to drive to the church and one of the radio stations I listen to had switched to all Christmas music. It used to bother me that we could not wait until after Thanksgiving to bring out the Christmas cheer, but I have changed my tune. I am ready for a little Christmas joy, so we are kicking things off this Sunday at Grace!
When you come to worship this week, the Angels will be out for our annual Angel Tree. Each Angel has a card with a child’s name, their age and a gift they hope to receive. Please return the gifts to the church or the Center of Grace by December 8 and hang the angel on one of the trees outside the Celebration Center or Grace Gathering. You do not need to wrap the gift, but please attach the information card to the gift so it is presented to the correct child.
After the 10:30 worship on Sunday we will start decorating the church for the Advent season. Pizza will be provided for anyone who can participate, and the Chiefs game will be playing on the big screen in the sanctuary. It will be a fun afternoon of food, fellowship and a common purpose.
The Living Nativity has become a highly anticipated event each year at Grace. Families from all over our community and beyond come to hear the Christmas story live on our church lawn. You can help spread the word by putting a sign in your yard advertising the event. Yard signs will be available at “The Hubs” on Sunday when you come to worship.
Finally, Grace will offer a Blue Christmas worship on Sunday, December 1st at 3 PM in Grace Gathering. The Blue Christmas worship recognizes that the holiday season is not always joyful for everyone. Through prayer, communion and the lighting of candles, we invite God’s Holy Spirit to surround us and give us peace.
I am grateful to spend my second Advent and Christmas season at Grace with you and your family.
See you in worship!
Barry
