This Sunday in Feb 9 Worship

Dear Grace Family,

For years when people would ask me who I was rooting for in the Super Bowl, my answer would be “The Chiefs!” They would then explain to me that the Chiefs were not playing in the Super Bowl and my response would always be the same, “But someday they will be!” That day has arrived! For the past six years, Chiefs fans have been spoiled by the amount of success we have witnessed. No football team has played in five Super Bowls over six years. Now the Chiefs have an opportunity to do what no team has done before, win three Super Bowls in a row.

What does any of this have to do with worship this week? We don’t worship the Kansas City Chiefs at Grace! That is correct, but we do like to have fun and bring our whole selves to worship. That includes our passion for our hometown team. We have designated this Sunday as Red Sunday at Grace and you are encouraged to wear red to worship. I don’t believe that God roots for any specific team, even the Kansas City Chiefs, but God does not mind when we show support for our favorite teams. I love how teams can bring a community together and am grateful to be part of the Kansas City community with you. It is a great time to be a Chief’s fan.
