This Sunday in 10/26 worship
Dear Grace Family,
This Sunday we will conclude our stewardship series, Beautiful and Abundant, with our fourth question.
In week one, we asked, “Is it beautiful?” Beauty is a reflection of God, and whatever we do as a church should reflect God’s grace.
The question for week two was, “Does it create abundance?” We serve a God of abundance who has showered us with grace. We should live with an abundance mindset that reminds us we can never outgive God.
Last week our question was, “Is it fair?” The world is inherently unfair, but through our actions we can make it a little more just. We can live as if the Kingdom of God is already among us.
Our final question is, “Is it contagious?” What must the church do to share God’s grace with a world that may not even know it’s missing it?
The last Sunday in October is traditionally our Commitment Sunday (and when I say “traditionally,” I mean it’s how I’ve done it since I was appointed to Grace!). You are invited to bring your Intent to Give card for 2026 and place it in the baskets during worship. If you don’t have your card, we’ll have plenty of extras on Sunday. If you’ve already mailed it in or filled it out online, you’re invited to place a blank card in the baskets as a symbol of your commitment.
Speaking of online giving—you can fill out your intended gift on our website [here]. It will go directly to our Finance Coordinator.
Let me share two reasons why we ask you to fill out a card. The first is practical. Each year, we create a budget at Grace based on our anticipated income. We want to be faithful and not overspend or underspend. Your commitment helps us make a faithful budget.
The second reason is spiritual. Diana and I make our commitment every year because we believe in the ministry at Grace. We want to be part of something bigger than ourselves—something that’s making a positive difference in the world. We think the church is the best place to give our resources. Making our commitment to the church is a spiritual practice that reminds us that God calls us to be generous. When we give, it feeds our spirit and draws us closer to God.
Don’t forget that our children will also collect a noisy offering in worship this Sunday. Bring your change and make some noise as we throw it in the buckets!
See you in worship,
Barry
