Caring Congregation Training Event

September 13-14, 2024

Olathe Grace United Methodist Church
11485 S Ridgeview Rd, Olathe, Kansas

Jesus was a healer and through His teachings and stories he connected and cared for others. His example calls us to provide meaningful care and support through the peaks and valleys of our lives. Care ministry is key to retention and meaningful engagement of members as they receive and give care. Disciples are formed and transformed by the church’s care giving ministry.

This training will be provided by The Caring Congregation (TCC). At The Caring Congregation (TCC) we believe care ministry is the heart of the church and is essential for today’s evolving Christian community. Pastors and laity are trained to/ link arms to create a culture of care that is available to all members of the church and not just a selected few who might be in small groups or more well known. Trusted volunteers become Congregational Care Ministers or CCMs. This method of care is also recognized as a means for self-care for pastors as they share the daily load of ministry.

“CCM’s often become the most deeply discipled, emotionally healthy and spiritually mature members of the congregation.”—-Rev. Lisa Degrenia, Lead Pastor, Coronado UMC, Florida Conference.

The Caring Congregation training is recognized by the UMC Lay Servant Ministries for a Specialization in Congregational Care for Certified Lay Ministers. Please connect with the website: www.thecaringcongregation.com for more information.

Are you satisfied with the way your church provides care? If you were to rate your church’s provision of care to your community, would you say you engage your volunteers to effectively live out their calling as Christians to care for one another? Is your pastor overwhelmed with the ever-increasing needs of your community? Have you organized care teams to address the most pressing needs of your community and church?

Pastors, prayerfully begin to choose and invite a few laity to attend this training sponsored by Olathe Grace United Methodist Church and the Northeast Kansas District. (formerly Kansas City District) Training will be held at Grace United Methodist Church, 11485 S Ridgeview Rd, Olathe, Kansas, Friday, September 13th 1:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, September 14th 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 pm. Because Grace United Methodist Church and the Northeast Kansas district are underwriting the cost, it is available at an unbelievable cost of only $300 for your church to bring as many people as you’d like to train! This training event is relevant for all congregations, no matter the size. We encourage you to register your team by August 30th at https://tinyurl.com/OlatheGrace or use the QR code below.
