Loving God,
Living like Jesus,
Serving the world

Grace is a vital and vibrant large congregation growing in faith and discipleship, and serving in mission and ministry with our community and world.

Our 160+ years of commitment to the Olathe community gives us a love of worship traditions and a passion for new, innovative ways of thinking about faith.

We are a congregation celebrating 160+ years of growing in faith and discipleship and serving in mission with our community and world.

Grace is proud to be a two-campus congregation:

Our Ridgeview campus is home to the majority of our worship gatherings, main offices, Kids Place at Grace preschool, and many other ministries for persons of all ages. This is what you might think of a traditional “church” campus, although we believe it’s just one part of what our ministry has to offer the community. Our contemporary congregation Common Grace, also meets in the Grace Gathering Room at the Ridgeview building.

Our Center of Grace campus in downtown Olathe hosts our hands-on mission and educational outreach programs with and for southern Johnson County, including community dinners, a clothing closet, ELL classes, and the Boys & Girls Club. The love that we receive from God and one another at our worship campuses informs and inspires our work at the Center of Grace, and we are so pleased and proud of the amazing things that happen here every day.

Our History

In 1858, a group of Southern Methodists, meeting in each other’s homes, began the Methodist Church of Olathe. In 1869 church members raised money to purchase property at the corner of Cherry and Loula streets where the Methodist Episcopal Church of Olathe was built. This white frame building was remodeled twice, in 1892 and 1907.

With continued growth, a new red brick structure was built on the same site and edicated on June 3, 1917. This building served the congregation and community well for many years. Harsh weather conditions over time damaged the walls and foundations and sections of the building were eventually condemned.

Our Vision

Grace is a vibrant, spirit-filled United Methodist Church seeking to live out its vision of Loving God, Living like Jesus, and Serving the World.

  • We are a people loving God. Worship has been central to this United Methodist congregation since 1858. There is a spirit at Grace that is authentically warm and welcoming, open to the laughter and tears that our diverse styles of words and music often bring. While there is great variety in the styles of worship we share at Grace, the commonality in each is our desire to grow in loving relationship with God and neighbor and in holiness of heart and life.
  • We are a people living like Jesus. Seeking to grow and mature our lives of faith in living like Jesus of the gospels, our community is passionate about the discipleship and evangelism. We strongly encourage our members to participate in Biblical and theological study, prayer, and spiritual formation. This preparation is invaluable to do hands-on ministry with the most vulnerable, and to witness and invite all persons into a growing relationship with Christ and each other.
  • We are a people serving the world! Grace has been a church of hands-on mission since our inception, and each generation of worshipping believers has found new ways to reach out to the most vulnerable with the good news of Christ. The Center of Grace is at the heart of why we continue to grow numerically, spiritually, and is indeed the ministry God was already blessing.
