As a people seeking to live in the peace of Christ, we are invited to be peace-making people in our homes, community, and world. The power of choosing the way of peace both internally and externally has far-reaching effects for our faith and our world. Peace Academy is 4 unit curriculum designed to help children and youth learn about making connections across lines of race, economic, and physical differences in abilities. They explore ideas for peaceful resolution of conflict and how to become “up-standers” and advocates for those being marginalized. Each unit is 5 weeks and is offered each fall and spring. During this current session of Peace Academy we will focus on the story of the Good Samaritan as we explore WHO our “neighbor” is and what it means to LOVE ALL of our “neighbors” – regardless of our differences. Children and youth (K-12th grade) attending 9:15 Sunday morning programming are automatically part of Peace Academy.
