Baptism is the beginning of a lifelong journey of faith.

When parents bring infants to be baptized, they are making a covenant with God and the church to continue to nurture this child in the loving community of the church, where he or she will learn what it means to be loved by God. Infants have what we call “prevenient grace” – the grace that works in our lives before we are aware of it.

In order to be baptized or to have your child baptized, you must:

  1. Be a member or be in the process of becoming a member by attending a Coffee with the Pastor session
  2. Attend a baptism information session, during which you will learn about the significance of baptism and the opportunity and responsibility you have when a child is baptized. You will be able to schedule a date for the baptism and fill out the baptismal certificate information at this session.

Baptisms can be scheduled at any of our five services on any Sunday other than the first Sunday of the month. It is not necessary for children to wear anything particular for the baptism. Some parents choose to dress children in white, others choose to dress them in comfortable clothing. If you have questions about this process, please call the church office at (913)859-0111 or Rev. Wes Gately-Price at [email protected] .
