Baptism is the beginning of a lifelong journey of faith.
As parents bring infants to be baptized they are making a covenant with God and the church to continue to nurture this child in the loving community of the church, where they will learn what it means to be loved by God. Infants have what we call “prevenient grace”. That is the grace that works in our lives before we are aware of it.
At Grace, to be baptized or have your child baptized you must have started the membership process and attend an information session. During this meeting, you will learn about the significance of baptism and the opportunity and responsibility you have when a child is baptized. You will also schedule a date for the baptism as well as fill out the information for the baptismal certificate at this session.
- Baptisms can be scheduled at any of our five services: Saturday at 5:30 p.m., Sunday at 8:00 a.m., 9:15 a.m., 10:45 a.m. and our contemporary service at 10:45 a.m.
- We do not schedule baptisms on the first Sunday of the month because the sacrament of communion is served to the congregation and is the focus of our services.
- It is not necessary for children to wear anything particular for the baptism. Some parents choose to dress children in white, others choose to dress them in comfortable clothing.
- You are welcome to bring your child with you for this session.
