Rev. Dr. Nanette Roberts

Senior Pastor

After growing up on a small family farm in northwestern Kansas, Nanette graduated from Kansas State University and was a teacher before heading to seminary at St. Paul School of Theology. In 2003, she was appointed as Senior Pastor. Along the way Nanette has traveled for international mission work, taught at conferences, and finished her Doctoral degree at Wesley Theological Seminary. She loves to run, read, preach, teach, and has a weakness for popsicles.

Tiffany is the Senior Associate Pastor. Tiffany was a 2nd grade teacher before deciding to attend seminary. She is passionate about helping people know their identity as God’s Beloved and strives to live as a wholehearted person who is brave and kind. She is also in process to be a certified labor doula and often preaches about pregnancy, birth, and parenthood. She is married to David and has three children, Milo, Sophia and Theo.

Associate Pastor

Rev. Kyle Reynolds comes to Grace from Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Wichita, Kansas. Areas of focus for Kyle have been in working with young adults, where he has worked to establish mission opportunities and new group gatherings, and small group development. Prior to his time in Wichita, Kyle completed his Master of Divinity degree through Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois with a concentration in Congregational Leadership. Grace is the place where Kyle grew and developed his own faith and his leadership for ministry. After years of being served by the children’s and youth programs at Grace, his first ministry related job was as a youth intern the summer after his freshman year of college, and he credits Grace as the place that nurtured in him a hands-on understanding of the Gospel and the skills for innovative ministry.

Associate Pastor

Sylvia was born and raised in Bogota, Colombia, and has lived in the United States for more than 30 years.  She has lived in Olathe since 1993, is married, and has 4 children and 5 grandchildren.  She is the Director of the Center of Grace, our mission and outreach center and also assists with Sunday services.  She enjoys reading, working in her flower garden and time in her hammock.

Associate Pastor of Pastoral Care

Ali is a lifelong United Methodist and has been a member at Grace since she was 14. Ali has a B.A. in Women Studies from K-State and previously worked in social services. She recently made the decision to go into ministry and is honored to be serving Grace as a licensed local pastor while she pursues her Course of Study at St. Paul School of Theology. Ali enjoys spending time with her husband, Paul, and her two children, Henry & Tannie.

After a 20 year career in the Army and 6 years with the Department of Defense, Shawn felt called to a ministry of adult discipleship and teaching in the church.  He completed a Bachelor of Christian Ministry degree and a Masters of Divinity degree with specialization in Christian Religious Education. Shawn and his wife, Ernie, love to travel.  He is a foodie who enjoys experiencing different cultures through food and sharing meals.

Pat is a retired United Methodist Elder. With her husband Cliff, they moved to Olathe and are making Grace their home. Pat is a Pastoral Care specialist and brings her heart of care and compassion into volunteer service for our faith community. She will be working with Sylvia and Ali offering pastoral care, support and education and being part of our clergy team! Pat enjoys stretching her mind by playing all kinds of games and puzzles.

Rev. Dr. Ken Lutgen

Director of Operations

Dr. Lutgen served as a United Methodist Minister, serving positions in the local church and the General Church for 42 years before retiring and coming to Grace as a consultant.  He carries the title of Director of Operations giving over site to the assigned financial, personnel and administrative responsibilities of the Church.  He is married to Linda and has three grown children plus five grandchildren living in the area filling their free time.

Director of Hospitality

Tracy has worked at Grace Church since 1998. She works with Volunteer Ministry, New Members and Baptisms. She enjoys meeting new people, helping build connections between people in the congregation. Seeing each person’s gifts and talents valued is the core of her work. She is married to Doug and has a teenage daughter. She enjoys playing with their dog and taking walks.

Director of Personnel & Interim Director of Facilities

After retiring from a successful career in personnel management with Medtronic, Walt joins the Grace UMC team to assist our staff in reaching their full potential and maximize resource utilization. Walt and his wife Kristi have been members at Grace for nearly 20 years, raised their four sons in this church, and have seen it through a great deal of change and growth over the years. Walt is overjoyed to now take a more active role in supporting our work at Grace.

Communications Coordinator

Caitlin is responsible for all external communications of the church, including bulletins, newsletters, emails, and social media. She also oversees the design and maintenance of the church website. Caitlin holds a Bachelor’s degee in English and a Master’s degree in Communications with an emphasis in Nonprofit Leadership. She is a lifelong Methodist, an avid reader, and a mediocre but enthusiastic cook.

Betty is the first smile you see at the Front Desk Office at Ridgeview campus. She has worked there since 2012. Prior to 2012, she worked at the Center of Grace for 8 years.  Betty enjoys organizing and helping people find what they need. Betty grew up in Mexico and currently lives in Olathe. She is married and has 4 beautiful daughters.  When she isn’t busy with work or mom duties, she loves shopping and making crafts.

Teresa is a long time member, volunteer and music leader at Grace. She has worked as a music educator in the Kansas public schools since 1997 and currently teaches middle school choir at Mission Trail. Teresa also sings in the Celebration Choir, rings in Carillon Choir, and is one of the founding members of Four Joy.

Director of Middle School Ministries

Greg has been involved in children’s and youth ministry in some capacity since his daughters were very young. About a year after moving to Olathe in 2006, he started volunteering as a youth leader here at Grace, and joined the youth staff in 2010. He enjoys working with middle school students because they are willing to ask questions, try new things and love to have fun. Greg is bald by choice and not by nature, although that is changing more and more each year.

Shannon attended Grace as a 3rd grader when it was First United Methodist Church. And now is thankful to serve as the Youth Director! After attending Kansas State University, she worked in a variety of roles all the while volunteering in youth ministry in Overland Park. She began this journey of full-time ministry in 2008, and it’s been wild and rewarding ever since. She and her husband, Zach, have two daughters, Grace and Emma, and live in Paola.

Stacy started her career in Children’s Ministry after working 15 years in Federal Law Enforcement. She has a clear calling from God to guide children into a relationship with Christ. She is married and has one pre-teen son. If you are with Stacy around meal times—don’t be surprised when you see her munching on peppers of all kinds, not sweet – but the hotter the better! Her favorite “mouth on fire” remedy is to place a pinch of salt underneath the tongue.

Jill is working with Grace as the Children’s Ministry Coordinator. She has a background in child care and pediatric social work. After graduating from the University of Kansas, she volunteered in children’s ministry. She lives in Olathe with her daughter and husband. In her spare time, she likes to do crafts, cook and go shopping.

Jennifer has been working with young children and families for over 20 years. She has been a Preschool teacher as well as a Program Director prior to working at Grace. Rick has been on the Grace UMC music staff since 1996. He is a graduate of Philadelphia College of Bible, and received Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Westminster Choir College, Princeton, NJ. By day, he serves as Executive Director of Heartland Men’s Chorus in Kansas City.

Chandler was raised in a small Missouri town, where he was home schooled with his three brothers. He has been attending Methodist churches since an early age, and after showing a musical interest, he pursued his passion by obtaining a degree in Audio Engineering from Kansas City Kansas Community College. Chandler has been serving Methodist churches in the A/V department since 2014. In his free time, he likes to skateboard, play music, and spend time with his wife, Kristina.

Dave began as the worship leader at River of Life in the fall of 2015.  He has decades of experience leading worship and is a very talented musician.  Dave has also been a fan of the Kansas City Royals since he was little and is very talented at predicting scores of the Royals games.

Keith has been on the music staff at Grace since May 2015. He holds a Bachelor’s in Business and Minor in Music, Psychology and Education from Central Methodist University in Fayette, MO. Keith is Sales and Service Technician for Allen Organs and is a member of the American Guild of Organists. Keith’s gifts for worship leadership ring out quite clear and his understanding of how organ music both gives foundation and enhances our inspiration and praise of God is unmatched!

Brian Steele

Artist in Residence

Brian Steele performed with the Kansas City Lyric Opera for 26 seasons, featured in 50 roles in 75 productions. He performed as soloist with the KC Symphony, KC Chamber Orchestra, productions through Kansas City, and in opera companies across the U.S. and Europe. Retired from professional opera performance, he remains active vocally on the worship team at Grace. Brian and his wife, Dian, have 3 children and have been members of Grace for over 40 years.

Worship Accompanist

Pam has been on the music staff at Grace since 2003. She holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Music Education from the UMKC Conservatory of Music. Pam is the Choral Music Director at Olathe NW High School and has worked as a music educator in Kansas since 1991.  Pam sings with the Grammy-winning Kansas City Chorale, and is a featured soloist on several of their CDs.  Pam enjoys spending time with husband, Brett, and their sons, Jack, Avery and Cole.

Debbie joined Grace as the Handbell Director in 2012.  She holds a Bachelor’s degree is in Music Education from Northwest Missouri State University, and a Masters in Music Education from UMKC Conservatory of Music. Debbie is an elementary music teacher in the Shawnee Mission School District.  In music minsitry, she has worked with students from Pre-K through high school in handbells and choir. Debbie and her husband, Don, have 4 children & 8 grandchildren.

Sarah grew up at Grace, where she was active in Sunday School, Children’s Choir; then Youth Choir and Youth Group from 6th-12th grade. Sarah has a bachelor’s degree in music education from Baker University and a Master Degree in Teaching and Learning from Mid-America Nazarene University. She has been teaching music in Olathe Public Schools since 2005, and is currently at Tomahawk Elementary. Sarah and her husband live in Olathe and have one son.
