After growing up on a small family farm in northwestern Kansas, Nanette graduated from Kansas State University and was a teacher before heading to seminary at St. Paul School of Theology. In 2003, she was appointed as Senior Pastor. Along the way Nanette has traveled for international mission work, taught at conferences, and finished her Doctoral degree at Wesley Theological Seminary. She loves to run, read, preach, teach, and has a weakness for popsicles.
Michael holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Philippine Christian University, a Master of Theology from Hyupsung Graduate School of Theology, and a Master of Divinity from St. Paul School of Theology. He is very passionate about teaching the Bible and challenging people to dream bigger and make a greater impact in their lives. Michael truly believes the church exists to declare the name of Jesus and build a place called home for the many who do not have one. Michael and his wife, Esther have a son, Paul.
Cheryl has served as a pastor in the Kansas East and Great Plains Conference since 1987. She is married to Dr. Stan Ingersol, a church historian and archivist for the Church of the Nazarene. They have two adult children, Rachel and Robert, and a magnificent ginger cat named Murphy. Cheryl received a B.S.N. from the University of Kansas, a Masters of Divinity from Duke Divinity School, and a Certificate in Spiritual Direction from San Francisco Theological Seminary. Cheryl is passionate about Spiritual Formation and mission trips to Guatemala. She enjoys reading, movies, walking, yoga, and traveling.
Rev. Kyle Reynolds comes to Grace from Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Wichita, Kansas. Areas of focus for Kyle have been in working with young adults, where he has worked to establish mission opportunities and new group gatherings, and small group development. Prior to his time in Wichita, Kyle completed his Master of Divinity degree through Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois with a concentration in Congregational Leadership. Grace is the place where Kyle grew and developed his own faith and his leadership for ministry. After years of being served by the children’s and youth programs at Grace, his first ministry related job was as a youth intern the summer after his freshman year of college, and he credits Grace as the place that nurtured in him a hands-on understanding of the Gospel and the skills for innovative ministry.
Sylvia was born and raised in Bogota, Colombia, and has lived in the United States for more than 30 years. She has lived in Olathe since 1993, is married, and has 4 children and 5 grandchildren. She is the Director of the Center of Grace, our mission and outreach center and also assists with Sunday services. She enjoys reading, working in her flower garden and time in her hammock.
After a 20 year career in the Army and 6 years with the Department of Defense, Shawn felt called to a ministry of adult discipleship and teaching in the church. He completed a Bachelor of Christian Ministry degree and a Masters of Divinity degree with specialization in Christian Religious Education. Shawn and his wife, Ernie, love to travel. He is a foodie who enjoys experiencing different cultures through food and sharing meals.
Dr. Lutgen served as a United Methodist Minister, serving positions in the local church and the General Church for 42 years before retiring and coming to Grace as a consultant. He carries the title of Director of Operations and gives oversight to the financial and administrative responsibilities of the Church. He is married to Linda and has three grown children plus five grandchildren living in the area, so family fills much of their free time. Ken also enjoys travel and has enjoyed exploring the world with his wife during his career and throughout retirement.
After retiring from a successful career in personnel management with Medtronic, Walt joins the Grace UMC team to assist our staff in reaching their full potential and maximize resource utilization. Walt and his wife Kristi have been members at Grace for nearly 20 years, raised their four sons in this church, and have seen it through a great deal of change and growth over the years. Walt is overjoyed to now take a more active role in supporting our work at Grace.
Karen has a heart for people and will be the smiling face greeting you at the front desk when you come into the office. She is always ready to lend a hand and if she doesn’t have the answer, she’s happy to help you track it down! Karen grew up in the Kansas City metro area and has two kids and three grandkids. She is an avid crafter, always on the lookout for the next creative project to tackle, and loves pets and dogs especially, but her greatest passion is spending time with her grandkids.
Teresa is a long time member, volunteer and music leader at Grace. She has worked as a music educator in the Kansas public schools since 1997 and currently teaches middle school choir at Mission Trail. Teresa also sings in the Celebration Choir, rings in Carillon Choir, and is one of the founding members of Four Joy.
Stacy started her career in ministry after working 15 years in Federal Law Enforcement. She has a clear calling from God to guide children and youth into a relationship with Christ. She is married and has one son. If you are with Stacy around meal times—don’t be surprised when you see her munching on peppers of all kinds, not sweet – but the hotter the better! Her favorite “mouth on fire” remedy is to place a pinch of salt underneath the tongue.
Jennifer has been working with young children and families for over 20 years. She has been a Preschool teacher as well as a Program Director prior to working at Grace. She and her husband, Chris, have two teenagers, Cooper and Lexi. Their favorite family event is watching college basketball during March Madness!
Chrissy joined our staff in 2018 as Lead Preschool Teacher at Center of Grace after many years teaching in schools. She now also brings her talents for working with kids to Grace Kids Ministry as Children’s Ministry Coordinator.
Rick has been on the Grace UMC music staff since 1996. He is a graduate of Philadelphia College of Bible, and received Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Westminster Choir College, Princeton, NJ. By day, he serves as Executive Director of Heartland Men’s Chorus in Kansas City.
Chandler was raised in a small Missouri town, where he was home schooled with his three brothers. He has been attending Methodist churches since an early age, and after showing a musical interest, he pursued his passion by obtaining a degree in Audio Engineering from Kansas City Kansas Community College. Chandler has been serving Methodist churches in the A/V department since 2014. In his free time, he likes to skateboard, play music, and spend time with his wife, Kristina.
Keith has been on the music staff at Grace since May 2015. He holds a Bachelor’s in Business and Minor in Music, Psychology and Education from Central Methodist University in Fayette, MO. Keith is the Owner/Founder of Sandrock Music Company and is a member of the American Guild of Organists. Keith’s gifts for worship leadership ring out quite clear and his understanding of how organ music both gives foundation and enhances our inspiration and praise of God is unmatched!
Brian Steele performed with the Kansas City Lyric Opera for 26 seasons, featured in 50 roles in 75 productions. He performed as soloist with the KC Symphony, KC Chamber Orchestra, productions through Kansas City, and in opera companies across the U.S. and Europe. Retired from professional opera performance, he remains active vocally on the worship team at Grace. Brian and his wife, Dian, have 3 children and have been members of Grace for over 40 years.
Pam has been on the music staff at Grace since 2003. She holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Music Education from the UMKC Conservatory of Music. Pam is the Choral Music Director at Olathe NW High School and has worked as a music educator in Kansas since 1991. Pam sings with the Grammy-winning Kansas City Chorale, and is a featured soloist on several of their CDs. Pam enjoys spending time with husband, Brett, and their sons, Jack, Avery and Cole.
Debbie joined Grace as the Handbell Director in 2012. She holds a Bachelor’s degree is in Music Education from Northwest Missouri State University, and a Masters in Music Education from UMKC Conservatory of Music. Debbie is an elementary music teacher in the Shawnee Mission School District. In music minsitry, she has worked with students from Pre-K through high school in handbells and choir. Debbie and her husband, Don, have 4 children & 8 grandchildren.
