Over the last few days while working with Urban Plunge we had the opportunity to work with four different organizations. On Tuesday, we worked with Mission Church and assist in helping set up a block party for the community and helped hand out flyers to the near by residents. Later that day we got our hands dirty. We cleaned the outside of a wonderful lady’s home named Kim, we helped pick up trash, pulled weeds, and mowed her lawn. That night we all participated in Mission Church’s summer block party and over a hundred people came. There was dancing, a giant slide, and water activities. The students really embraced this opportunity and were playing with kids and talking to locals.
On Wednesday our next location we had an opportunity to work with Crossfit; an organization that helps serve people who are in need of ectronics. We worked at fireworks stand helping decorate and replenish supplies. Later in the day we drove over to Heartland Hope mission we had few navigation issues but that didn’t bring our serving spirit down. We washed windows and help sort food and clothes. Heartland Mission serves over 45,000 families in 2017. They are hoping to grow that to 55,000 families in 2018.
