Things are really gearing up as we move towards launching another campus of Grace in southwest Olathe! The spring and summer look to be very busy as we hope to prepare ourselves for a fall launch. On the first Saturday in April, we gathered for our first public event, as we kicked things off by giving back to our church and our community at the Center of Grace! Look for a chance to be involved in a similar event in May!
Another opportunity comes on Sunday, April 15, when we host Rev. Jim Griffith of Griffith Coaching, who is a church planting specialist and the project coach for our work. Since 1996 Jim has trained over 6,000 church leaders and coached several hundred plants. The Great Plains Conference has provided his service to me and to Grace for our work together.
I first met Jim while I was in seminary. He was leading a discernment workshop for young clergy pursuing ministry. When I was invited to go, I knew very little about what I was getting into, but was impressed from the beginning. Since that time I’ve had the chance to get to know him and his work much better and I am beyond grateful to have him by my side to coach me throughout the many stages of this process.
We’ve invited Jim to visit Grace on April 15-16. During that time he will meet with Pastor Nanette, Grace UMC staff and leaders, District Superintendent Bruce Emmert, and Conference Director of Congregational Excellence Nathan Stanton.
On Sunday, April 15 from 2-5 PM, we will have an open meeting with Jim and interested parties and team members of the new campus. Jim will field questions and outline the process for reaching out to the community and launching our campus. I hope that you will be able to join us for the conversation (and stay for the cookies)!
As always, if you have questions about this or about anything related to the new campus, I am always open to conversation! Feel free to drop me an email anytime at .
