It’s that time of year again – mark your calendars for Friday, March 2 for an Amazing Race for Missions! Each year, we raise thousands of dollars on a single night for missions activities happening at Grace UMC and around the world, and we have a blast doing it!
This year’s theme is An Amazing Race for Missions. Participants will take a trip around the world, learning about all the places touched by the missions of Grace process. You’ll sample international foods, enjoy fabulous entertainment, and get your passport stamped as you travel the world throughout the night!
What is Grace Extravaganza?
We cover a lot of ground in one fun-filled evening – dinner, entertainment, desserts, and a silent, almost-live, and live auction! There’s also a kids program for only $5 per child (see below, left) so no need to worry about getting a sitter.
Where does the money from this event go?
All the money raised at this event goes directly to the missions of Grace locally and worldwide, such as our annual mission trip to Tochimizolco, Mexico, summer youth mission trips. In recent years, much of the money has also benefitted upcoming renovation projects at the Center of Grace, including the remodel of the recreation area.
What is Center of Grace?
The Center is unique in that it addresses the needs of its participants from preschool to adulthood. Many in our community are in a life situation that does not provide opportunities for them to reach their God-given potential, such as a new immigrant family, a family caught in the cycle of poverty or someone facing health issues without insurance. The Center is there to provide an opportunity to move from this dependency to self-sufficiency and to reach their God-given potential.
How do I buy tickets?
Tickets $30/adult or $5/child and are available Sundays at our table outside the Coffee Shop.
How can I help?
Everyone has something to contribute to Extravaganza, be it time, talents, or treasures, and it takes many volunteers and donations to make this event come to life! Donations for silent and live auctions are especially critical to the success of this event. Contact Liz Dunsing (elizabethdunsing@gmail.com) if you are able to participate in one of the following ways:
- Host a Table: No cooking or cleaning required – simily decorate your table and have fun!
- Event Volunteer: Clean up, tear down, and everything in between during the event.
- Bake a Dessert: Sign up to bring sweets to share at the dessert bar!
- Donate an Auction Item: A weekend getaway, date night, or sports/concert tickets make great auction items.
- Donate a Basket Item: Basket item requests are located on the idea boards around the main floor.
