Last month, we talked about a new project happening here at Grace. We as a church, in conjunction with our Annual Conference, are working to launch a new satellite of Grace! We are currently one church in two locations – our Ridgeview location and the Center of Grace. Now we’re looking at growing to one church in three locations – by adding another worshipping site.
Since I arrived here I have been tremendously excited by the energy and dreaming that you all have shared for this project. I’ve also been asked often about what my ideas and hopes are for this work. At its core, what I want to see is new people engaged in meaningful community and an increase in our mission work in Olathe and beyond. I hope to see new families experiencing God’s grace in worship and in their daily lives; to see children and youth learning what it means to be a disciple in the 21st century. The fact is that Grace has a tremendous amount to offer new people and this is part of how we share that with our neighbors!
I want to offer a special bit of gratitude to all of those who showed up to the conversations we hosted in July and September, and to the countless people who have asked questions, shared encouragement, given support, and agreed to help. We’ll need more of this from people across the community of Grace! I also want you to know that part of my commitment is to keep you all in the loop as much as possible. I am always available for a conversation or to answer questions!
Throughout October and November, we will be putting together a team to help launch this new satellite. They’ll work over the next months and years to make this dream a reality! Most of my energy will be spent assembling that team and helping us determine a rule of life together. In November, several of us will be heading to Lincoln, NE to talk about creating a discipleship process in the context of a new worshipping community. This will include ideas around welcoming and educating new folks, training and equipping people for leadership, and forming small groups for spiritual growth.
My door (and phone, and ) is always open. I’d be happy to chat with you or answer any questions!
