It is with great excitement that Staff Parish Committee and I are announcing the newest addition to our Pastoral Staff! Rev. Kyle Reynolds will be appointed to Grace by Bishop Saenz with the support of our District Superintendent, Rev. Dr. Bruce Emmert at the 2017 Annual Conference Meeting of the Great Plains. Pastor Kyle’s official start date is July 1 of this year. Below is a bio Kyle sent for us to begin to know him better.
“Rev. Kyle Reynolds comes to Grace from Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Wichita, Kansas. He has served the last two years in that congregation during which time the congregation has experienced growth and vitality. Areas of focus for Kyle have been in working with young adults, where he has worked to establish mission opportunities and new group gatherings, and small group development. In addition, he was part of a satellite campus launch, the Aldersgate Renew Campus. Outside of the local congregation, Kyle is a participant in the Great Plains Transition into Ministry program, the New Church Development Incubator program, and on the planning team for the interdenominational Innovation Convocation at Riverside Church in New York City.
Prior to his time in Wichita, Kyle completed his Master of Divinity degree through Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois with a concentration in Congregational Leadership. During his three years of seminary, he spent a semester at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC studying the intersection of religion and politics and a summer in an immersive learning partnership at Seth Mokitimi Methodist Seminary in Pietermartizburg, South Africa. While in the Chicago area, Kyle participated in the launch of a new service out of an established United Methodist congregation.
Kyle graduated with a degree in Personal Financial Planning from Kansas State University. During his time in Manhattan he worked as an Undergraduate Coaching Assistant for the K-State football team and then as the Speaker of the Student Senate. Between graduation and seminary, he worked as a legislative assistant in the Office of the University President.
Grace is the place where Kyle grew and developed his own faith and his leadership for ministry. After years of being served by the children’s and youth programs at Grace, his first ministry related job was as a youth intern the summer after his freshman year of college. He continued to serve as a youth volunteer throughout college. Kyle was also a part of the original design team for the River of Life worship service, and credits Grace for being the place that nurtured in him a hands-on understanding of the Gospel and the skills for innovative ministry.”
We celebrate with Pastor Kyle in his upcoming ordination as an Elder in Full Connection in the United Methodist Church, Great Plains Annual Conference, and his work with our church, our staff and our pastoral team! Be watching for further information on the exciting expansion of our ministries as part of Pastor Kyle’s work at Grace!
